The house where the infamous Defeo murders and alleged Amityville horror occurred does still exist. Though it is still standing its appearance has been altered as so it can not be so easily recognized. It became a nuisance to the neighborhood as there were so many individuals coming to the scene that something had to be done . Though the Defeo family was murdered in that home, the subsequent hauntings never occured as it was all a hoax. Take care.

The house is still standing; some people say they had bad experiences in it, while other say the only thing bad about the home is all the people who keep coming by, wanting to see the famous "haunted house."



By the way, there is some controversy over whether the hause was ever haunted; that the murders happened but all the other weirdness was made-up over the years.
