This is a very difficult question to answer. I think if you look at it from one way, virtually any fool who knows just enough to be dangerous can tinker with a spell and potentially, have some effect. So this means that spells are very powerful and take a high degree of practice and discipline to be used correctly.



On the other hand, psychic abilities generally don't even work very well for someone who has not trained themselves to tune into them and use them. Therefore, to be used correctly, a high degree of of discipline and study is necessary to hone one's psychic abilities. However, since one can rarely do anything "accidentally" with psychic power alone, I'd have to say that psychic ability, in general, is not as strong as spell magic.



Bottom line: neither one should be taken lightly.

BOTH need the same strength and discipline. Spells are a form of prayer with some talent behind it. Psychic abilities can vary form person to person and how it is developed. You really do not need to be psychic to do spells. Though, most who do magic have the ability in some form of way.

Is a fictional ability stronger than an imaginary ability? Difficult to say. Writers of books and video games can make up any magic spells they like. Psychics tend to be limited to only a few imaginary abilities. So I'd have to say that dreaming up new fictitious magic spells requires stronger imagination and greater creativity.

While I do agree that magic spells are diverse they also are found in any book on the subject or the web for that matter. Its like tarot cards because it comes with instructions. Said that to say this...if you can follow instructions you can work magic.



Psychic abilities are diverse as well. All gifts are different and all do not possess the same abilities. While it is true that you can "fine-tune" or develope them somewhat, you cannot use what is not there.

This is a tough one.It's so out of place here in "Science &Mathematics"I think even paranormal investigaters would agree.And we don't agree on much.Psychic abilities, while never demonstrated.It's possible to scientificaly investigate them.Magic spells and the people who believe in them are so silly.They belong in the " Mythology" section.Still silly but not so out of place.From what I've read here in"Alternative".Most ghost hunters would agree with me.Magic spells are childish nonsense.That's not to say folks that believe in it aren't nice.
