Do you believe in ghosts?

Whether you call them ghosts/angels/orbs/energy balls/demons/pixies/etc. what exactly makes it a reality for you? And furthermore, what could convince me of such a 'world'? I frequently find myself amazed of how people assert they have seen/felt/experienced what they feel is/are spiritual entities.

I'm an atheist, and as such, I don't believe in anything spiritual. If you care to know, this comes as a result of scientific evidence, no observation of anything spiritual and a strong untrust with religion. It's important to know I'm not entirely closed to the topic of 'ghosts' as it has always interested me. I just won't believe something unless its believable.

The question of the reality of ghosts or spirits will eventually, if one pursues the question far enough, run into the questions of the existence of mind.consciousness and Near Death Experiences. Science, for all its study, cannot tell with certainty what is occurring in either or these realms of knowledge either. There are multiple hypotheses, some better than others, but no solid proof.

Now a good bit of the problem lies in that science can deal only with things that can be measured, and thus simply cannot prove some things. The color blue is defined as what is perceived when light waves of a certain frequency range impact upon our eyes, unless we are colorblind that is, but the actual existence of the color blue cannot be proven. We can measure the electrical impulses given off by the brain and various nerves when the sensation known as hunger occurs, but we cannot prove the reality of the sensation. I could continue on with many other things that are accepted as real, but are unproven and indeed unprovable by science.

Now admittedly in a large percentage of cases, what is called ghosts or spirits can be explained by perfectly natural phenomena, but the problem is that there is no explanation in all cases. The task of true science is not to claim that since the vast majority of cases fall into such and such an explanation, that all must fit, but rather to examine the cases that do not fit and determine the reasons why they do not fit. Our knowledge does not advance by forcing all data into preconcieved patterns but rather by expanding our patterns to fit the data.

I didn't until my late parents visited me shortly after their passing 30+ years ago. Since then, I've had a few rare encounters with non-family entities, but I don't consider myself any sort of expert. I come to Y/A Alternative for some idea of what I've seen/felt. None of it is scary, simply amazing instead. I only hope every researcher could experience first-hand what I have: there would be a lot less deny-ers out there. Spirits are real and need more attention in scientific circles.

I could sit here and tell you all of my experiences, but, as you don't know me, you may think I'm totally nuts. To you, they're just stories. Even if I offered you pics and videos (which I don't have anyway), you'd certainly suspect they've been doctored up. There's been millions and millions of people with paranormal experiences for centuries, however, you didn't witness it. I think that in order to be a true believer, you'd have to have your own experiences. I would think about my "way out" experiences, would hear many others' mild experiences and had to think to myself, am I nuts? Then finally, finally, I'll hear someone mention some of my experiences, and can finally think, "thank goodness, someone else has actually had the same things happen to them, maybe I'm not crazy". Thing is, some experiences are so wild and unfathomable, it would be hard to believe (unless you've been through it). I can listen to others' stories now, and if they're of sound mind, then regardless of how insane it would sound, they likely experienced it.

Hello

The only way you would ever believe is to actually experience it for yourself. If you want to communicate with what you call "Ghosts", that are actually "Spirits". Then, go to your local spiritualist church and sit in for a service, as it is run by mediums who communicate with dead loved ones/friends and pass on messages to you. There is no charge for the service, there is no bible teaching or trying to convert anyone, just pure mediumship. You will get your own proof and it will blow your mind.

I'm a Babtist, I was raised to believe that all of these things are evil.

That being said, I have a very strong desire to find out whats going on here, the more I see, the more I believe that there is something to this. I don't know what, but I've experienced things i cannot explain in a reasonable manner.

All i know for sure is that the Bible says, "One day, the dead shall rise" I wonder if this is what was meant by that.

Yes. However, unlike what the human world believes, ghosts are really beings trancended from Hades and have found a suitable home among the Undead.
