Question:
Im a starter witch.. with some questions?
2017-11-11 03:20:27 UTC
Alright so I'm not FULLY converted to Wicca. I dont really believe in the gods and goddess, my faith is with catholic beliefs. HOWEVER, I've always felt "connected" to magic and such since i was a baby. I felt weird from other children, i was able to bond so easily with animals and do the strangest things. Anyways, i finally convinced myself that i should be a "witch". However... sense then there have been a few things.
1. A black orb. It was kind of like an orb anyways... more of a ribbon-like thing anyways. I nearly dropped my cup when i saw it, even my familiar saw it and she instantly rushed over to me. What WAS it and what did it MEAN? I was really spooked from that incident.
2. Starter materials? Im broke so ill need the cheapest materials possible. I already have a pendant and some crystals so that isn't a problem for me.
3. Why do i get weird feelings all of the sudden? Like someone is watching me.. or something like that anyways. Whenever i feel that way i notice my familiar (She is a cat named Ivypool) instantly rushes over to me and gets really protective.
4. Sometimes weird things happen to me, all involving animals (usually). For instance, at camp there was this one stray cat. Did NOT want to be anywhere near anybody else but for some reason it kept sticking around. I decided i wanted to take a look at this stray cat and the SECOND i walk outside, he is all over me. Things like that happen to me very often. Is this a sign or something? (ill continue)

Wicca & Witch are 2 different things. Wicca is a Pagan, polytheistic fertility religion that embraces Witchcraft. Witchcrart is a practice that anyone of any religion (or no religion) can learn.

What you're looking for is Christian Witchcraft, not Wicca. The most basic core tenet of Wicca is gender balance and polarity, reflected in male and female deities.

1. can't answer without being there, but that would be something you need to explore.

2. You don't need 'stuff' to be a Witch; you need knowledge.

Ancient Witches used what was practical, what they had available in their own back yard. They didn't go broke buying stuff. Everything can be used, they worked with what they had. You can do Witchcraft without pendants, without crystals or herbs. The only real tool you need is your mind. Other tools & components are fine if you want them, but there's no 'must haves'.

3. That can be anything, including your imagination. People are taught boogie men will jump out on us for doing Witchcraft, that dark forces are connected, so people with limited knowledge of the craft get started and imaginations run away with them, they jump at shadows. It's quite common. They either scare themselves and give up, or they get over it and move on with their studies.

4. Being good with animals is not necessarily a sign of anything, unless you choose to make it a sign. signs cannot be worked out by others, we have to work them out for ourselves. Signs aren't special things happening to us so much as they are us taking notice of the specific things we need to notice... the cat was just a cat to the world. If there is a message you need to get out of the cat's presence, though, your higher self will help you find it.

5. You might want to look into the concept of familiars. they come from Christians who believed Witches had evil spirits working for them disguised as animals. It's good to feel a connection with our animals, but I wouldn't use the term familiar that got reinvented by pop fiction shows like Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

Dreams can be a lot of things-- our mind trying to make sense of stuff that's been on it, our higher self trying to send messages, prophetic, etc. It's not uncommon though that dreams are out of the normal for new Witches, you are learning all about stuff that is very mysterious and possibly a little frightening to you (subconsciously at least). There is an info and thought overload and it manifests in our dreams.

Take note of them, there may be some useful info there, but I wouldn't get too hung up on them as if they vital to decipher. Usually they will play out whether you remember them or not.

Good luck on your path.

Here's the problem with Wicca. It's too vague. One coven or practitioner is doing it completely different than another. It's a fringe free for all practice(s); do as you will kind of thing. The cat probably liked you because you felt the most warm. Yes cats are that simple and selfish. No underlying witch power involved. Sorry, you believe in the idea of being a witch, but you aren't one. You say weird things happen. Weird things happen to everyone. You wouldn't believe the stories of my life experiences. I'm not a witch or warlock or anything special. I just get around a lot. I've studied various types of occult. Witchcraft is definitely the least consistent with no sound foundation. In other words, it's just a bunch of people living in a fantasy world. The "broom" it flies on is erroneously, "therefore, then because of this".

Sorry to burst your bubble. You are most certainly not a witch. Witches are a fake invention. Fun in fiction and watching people believe that Wicca is a singular practice, though.

You don't know what a "Witch" is.----It's a bad word to use, because there are so many different DEFINITIONS for it---It means different things to different people, and two people talking about it may not even be on the same "Page" so to speak. You want to be a "practitioner of natural Magic", which is ONE definition of "a witch. A person of the Wiccan Religion is yet another, as is a Psychic, a female Wizard, or Hermetic magician, a herbal healer or even a "Devil worshiper"-----There are a LOT of differences between each definition ---All of what some people call "Witches".--------I am afraid you let the multiple definitions of the word CONFUSE you. Just because you study magic does not make you a Wiccan, or belief in a goddess does not give you magic. FIND the DEFINITION you want of "Witch" and study in THAT field. And when you talk to others always DEFINE what you MEAN by "witch" There is a HELL of a LOT of difference between a Devil worshiper and a herbal healer, for example.(excuse the pun). Indeed it is best NOT to use the word at all and say what you are, in terms of study.

Ok. First of all, welcome.

You are at the sitting on the fence stage. This is normal. Spend what money you have on books by reputed authors (Not SilverRavenwolf [sorry Silver] or Crowley even- not yet. You just need the basics to get started so someone like Marian Green is good for starters.

Then Read for a year.

Don't buy crystals - it is a terrible thing to do to the earth for small items, but look for them at second hand sales - they frequently come up. No rush.

You don't actually need to buy anything at all. Some of the best items are given by nature free.

Gods and Goddesses. You can choose one or just go with the male and female representations, but more likely they will choose YOU at some point during a meditation. Just make friends.

Black orb - that is energy and you will get used to energy working or at least feeling it.

Weird feelings - that is part of your intuition. You will learn more as you go along.

Animals - that may be your 'thing'. We are all different and have different abilities.

Dreams - a reason to keep a journal so you can write them down, and learn to spot the important ones.

Most of all have fun, learn the basics and try new things - Tarot, runes, pendulum dowsing, scrying, plus learning to meditate, energy working, herblore, weatherlore, correspondences, the moon & sun, other planet influences, omens and prediction, incense mixing, candle work, effects of colour, spirit work, timing, sacred space.... there is a lot to learn.

Don't expect to be good at it all, but try new things out to see if you have an aptitude for them or like doing it.

When you have learned some basics then join an online forum. There is often a pull of "Must join a coven" but in reality you are better off learning on your own to start with.

Best of luck, and if you decide Church is better, then that's ok too. At least you've learned something.

Oh, and don't tell people you are a witch or they will expect you to levitate something, or if you are in Africa probably kill you. - they still do that.

You are a child and like lots of kids, you want to stand out on Q&A. Unfortunately, being a kid does not help, as you come over as believable as a kid. You now have free membership for the Need to be different club. We have Airbenders, Werewolves, Vampires, Skinwalkers and now we have our very own Wicca witch. By the way, Leftover Halloween witch getups are now less than a fiver at Tesco.

Like fully confirmed Wicca's your confused and being drawn by your own sense / feeling into things a position that makes no sense.. More than that requires cognitive dissonance.

If you believe in magic, you should first establish what power is behind the magic... failing to do so means you have no clue of the effect you have on this world, your loved ones or yourself. If you don't have a problem with this then you know the problem is you!

The answer to your first question is capitalization. It's a learned skill, but worth learning so you really should learn it.

The answer to your other questions is stop pretending everything that happens is a magical phenomenon of some sort, because it's not. You haven't described anything paranormal or magical, in fact everything you listed is stuff that happens to everyone all the time. Your cat loves you, and you dream about stuff. That's not enough for you to be burned at the stake, not even close.

Stop worrying about the "proper" way to be a Wiccan, because there is no such thing. Unlike the religion your parents follow so devoutly (I'm guessing Christianity), Wicca doesn't come with a huge list of rules. There is no Wiccan pope, no archbishop, no inner council, nothing of the kind. Wicca isn't an organized religion, it's entirely a do-it-yourself thing. Nobody can let you in to Wicca, and nobody can kick you out.

Talking to more 'experienced' followers of Wicca will only get you one thing: They'll tell you how infinitely more learned they are than you, and that's it. None of them will ever teach you how to cast a spell that actually works, not even if you offer to pay them.

You're about to join the official religion of rebellious teenage girls with religious parents and limited social skills, and divorced hippie ladies who live with too many cats. You don't need to take it so seriously.

Nothing you've said sounds particularly special, and you're very unlikely to have any special abilities. Magic and witchcraft are superstitions - no one has ever been able prove magic abilities, and you're unlikely to be the first. Sorry, but perhaps you should find a more reality-based pursuit?
